This is the ferocious Basic Cruiser that will take us 10,000 miles from Goodwood, UK to Ulan Bator, Mongolia, hopefully in one piece:

The Mighty Basic Cruiser
Certain rules and regulations apply for the vehicle to qualify for the Mongol Rally. Two simple rules cover pretty much everything:
1. You must complete the journey in a car with an engine of less than a 1.2 liter
2. The car must be no more than 10 years old (2002).
Other than that, anything is acceptable, but what is essential is not to focus on finding comfort and luxury, but rather on finding a dependable machine that will withstand interminable mountain ranges, deserts, river crossings, and pothole-ridden central Asian roads.
This is a one way trip for the car. Once in Mongolia, it will be auctioned and all the profits donated to The Christina Noble Foundation.
